JGRLS REGIONAL LIBRARY BOARD 2008

Pictured from left are JGRLS Board Chairman David Ables, board attorney Stacie Zorn, Bruce Grimes, Marjorie Albrycht, David Ogborn, Orell Hedgepeth, Harry McDonald, Chic Anderson, and Library Director Michael Hamlett.

The seven-member board is the highest governing body of the eight-branch, two-county library system.

In February 1952, the Library Board came into existence when Jackson County Board of Supervisors voted to fund county-wide library service. The three branch libraries, Pascagoula, Moss Point and Ocean Springs, came together to form the Jackson County Library System. In November 1970, the library system was re-named Jackson-George Regional Library System when the George County Library was added.
