Pascagoula Public Library hosts Teen Week "Books with Bite" Programs scheduled are: "I Bite!” Monday, October 13, 2:30-4:30 pm Ina Thompson Moss Point Library hosts Teen Week Enter the Scary Essay and Poem Contest for Teens sponsored by the Ina Thompson Moss Point Library and Friends of the Moss Point Library. One submission per teen (grade 6 thru 12) either a poem or an essay, no longer than 3 pages. Must be typed and double-spaced. First Prize = $50.00 Gift Certificate from Byrd’s Music Entries judged based on originality, scariness, spelling, punctuation, and ability to describe setting and character. Use of excessive violence or profanity will disqualify an entry. All entries due by 7:00PM on Monday, October 13th. Three top winning entries will be read aloud at a writers’ party on Thursday, October 16th at 6:00 PM. Public is welcome. Refreshments will be served by the Friends of the Moss Point Library. Entries will be judged by a three-member panel from WLOX, Mississippi Press, and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Teens participate in summer reading programs at libraries... Summer reading programs aren't just for little kids at the libraries in Jackson and George Counties. Most all libraries in the system are holding special programs just for Teens that are aimed to enhance their lives as well as motivate them to visit their library. Teens from Moss Point, Shelby Frederic (left) and Somalia Thomson, help at the registration desk - usually the busiest place in the library. Teen volunteers also re-shelve books and other library materials during the week at each library in the system. Some also help with puppet plays and handing out refreshments and prizes.. Pascagoula Library Celebrates Teen Read Week! Teen Read Week is a free, fun after school program filled with activities for teens that is celebrated nation-wide. Several area libraries are participating in special Teen programs during the week of October 15-20. All during the week, teens can tell a joke to the children's librarian and get a piece of candy. And they can enter the Joke Contest. Just fill out the joke form and enter a joke to win a prize. The winner will be announced on Friday, October 19, during at the giant ice cream sundae event. "Karaoke" Thursday, Oct. 18 - Come sing your way to being crowned king or queen of Karaoke from 3:00 -6:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 6:30.
